I read this on Steven’s weblog:

macnn.com reports on a sighting of an Apple retail job opening in Portland, Oregon. An Apple Store in my home town? This is me dancing. I can’t find the job listing in their database, so maybe they pulled it. But, when you do a search of their job database, it is possible to specify both “Portland” and “Portland – Pioneer Place” as locations. It always seemed to me like Pioneer Place was a perfect fit for an Apple Store.

I have to warn you Steven: MacNN Reader Reports are almost never verified… I have friends that send in bogus reports to MacNN all the time just to see if they’ll publish them without checking… It’s a sport in some countries… Beware MacNN Reader Reports.

That being said, I hope they do open a Portland store… the Northwest has needed an Apple Store for a long time. It’s the last bastion of Redmond power.

When MacNN is the only site carrying a story, you gotta do fact checking on your own. Apple runs a job section on their website… That would be the place to check.

Indeed I found the jobs by manually searching Apple’s Job database, it was just MacNN’s link didn’t work.

But they’re all there — store manager, asst store manager, inventory specialist, keyholder, Mac genius, and Mac specialist, all listed under Portland – Pioneer Place.

    Woo hoo!
