I think it might be because they make exclusive content deals with AOL. An AOL person that works in their TV division was on Online Tonight a few days ago. You can check it out on http://www.onlinetonight.net/

It is the Feb 13 show.

That effect should never be used... Let alone on a major website. The show was 3rd watched ALL TIME and it's got a website that looks 1 step above animated gif heaven.

Good call John... They need something better. But then again--they made a buttload of money without spending hardly anything on the web :P.

There was actually a good reason why I didn't link to anything -- I posted that in real time when it happened -- run from TV to computer where I had a blog posting ready -- type name -- run back to TV. Still I could have pre-googled for links and I guess I should have. Still my goal was to get that up in real time and I did (it was up w/in 30 seconds of when it was broadcast).

My wife has a unique perspective. She currently works for a Fox affiliate tv station and she used to work for... how to put this? She was one of the chief content editors for an intenet portal you could GO to that was owned by a very well-known cartoon character.

Due to that character's over emphasis on synergy, other media outlets, like Fox, are a tad reluctant to get that deep into synergy. It just hasn't paid off very well for that cartoon character generations have loved.
