I agree, rude ,incompetent CSR Rep's. I have called 3 states to try & find a live person and/or department to have my name & address removed from their spam marketing mail list.

My last call was to Ca, I apparently spoke with " Ed " who stated he was "the Direct TV President" who was equally as rude & stupid as other employee's I had spoken with previously.

It took him over 5 minutes to write down my address & he was insistent on obtaining my name ( now they will never leave me alone)! And his smart ass answer of " well don't you want the best service in US" when I was explaining the purpose of my call.

I would boycott this company ! Shyster's, end of story.

well folks in case you did not know it is now 2011 and direct tv still is pathetic. But at least now I know why. For those of you that don't know the CEO of Direct TV is responsible for all of the digital mess that goes with the cable, yes folks it was him that contributed (bribed) a Texas congressman for 1 million dollars to force a law that all cable and television programs go digital so that would increase his revenue and force people to try Direct TV. What does the consumer get for his interest in politics we get left in the dark ages because when it rains or snows or if its just cloudy the television goes out. What a jerk now we have digital and it is the most pathetic technology that is out there so instead of complaining what I think that we should do is do what no American has done before. I believe that the CEO of Direct should be prosecuted for bribing a congressman and the congressman should be persecuted for excepting a bribe. THey stand behind campaign contribution but we all know the truth its only a contribution if they take the money if they give something back in return that is a bribe and that is the start of political corruption, direct wanted thisdigital crap then he should be made to improve it. If he has the money to buy a politician then he should have the means to improve the company.

My husband and i had a horrible direct tv experience. It took 4.5 hours to place the order. We got misquoated, prominsed discounts that never happened, and bundled services with AT&T and mis explained how the billing would work. It took 4 hours for stuff to be installed, which my husband actively helped with. THen our order was wrong and tech said the customer rep line at Direct had to schedule a new visit and on the phone the rep said it was the tech's job. I have been so nervous and upset over this. They also required me to give them my credit card like 5 times. They also said the internet would be up later and here when i called at&t to cancel the bundleing, AT&T had already charged me. Buyer beware. We canceled. I don't know what we will do. Perhaps try again in 6mos once i calm down. I may try dish network.

BIG LET DOWN BY DIRECTV!!!! Signed up because the sales rep totally sold us on how much better it was than cable. 9 days later, installation techs show up and are rude and tell me I cannot have on demand in our main living area because I have internet and phone service through my cable. But if I purchase another DVR for $200 and pay $60 to go into the attic and $90 for the arm that supports the satellite plus the $19.95 up front fee I already paid, FREE installation has a new meaning=$370. Customer service was a joke, dropped calls and incompetent reps who were just down right rude, After reading all these posts I am glad it did not work out. Will not recommend DIRECTV to anyone!

I have no clue why bing sent me to your blog but I feel I should say I am now actually interested by the blog content you have pulled together. How many years did it take to end up with that many WWW users showing up to your blog? I am rather new to all this.

I have had service with them for a little over 2 years (Contract currently expired) and while the service has been ok I contacted them via e-mail on several occassions and asked for an upgrade from the family package to the choice package and I asked for the deal that they were giving new customers since I had been a loyal customer for the past 2 years. I have been told twice that those specials were for new customers only. What about taking care of the customers that you currently have? After reading this I realize that they are not doing that at all. My mother has dish network and is happy with it but I have heard bad things about them too. I think I will sit tight a little longer my TV is so old that the picture tends to have a green tint so if the TV dies maybe I will forget TV all together.

Years ago we looked into Direct TV. The guy that came out to do the install was an utter jerk with a sewer-stink attitude who proceeded to put three holes in our house - the crap-for-brains hadn't even a clue as to how to install their lousy equipment. We ended up kicking him out of our house. They would do nothing about the damage and we had to pay for the fix ourselves. We pretty much told them what they could do with their equipment and their rotten service. Reading through these comments, however, something good came out of that bad experience and I'm glad things turned out the way we did. We didn't have to get stuck with such a maggot company like that. Their stupid little "I want you back" postcards turn up in our mail every now and then and are promptly thrown into the trash with kitty litter poop scooped out on top of them. These days we don't waste our hard-earned money on any pay TV and their idiotic trash shows and commercials.

I have no idea how Direct TV can say they are the best satellite company, I spend hours on the phone trying to get the bill right, now again (4th time) my satellite will not come in and again $50 to send someone out to fix. I already pay $80 a month, while new customers get everything for free and only half of what a customer for years pay. Seems backwards to me. Now they wanr $5.99 more a month for a service plan.. The customer service people are very nice but don"t give a rats a** about you or your problem. I guess this is the norm now. I think it sucks.

You know, this has all been very helpful. I am in a situation right now with direct tv where I told them to cancel me. What happened briefly was I paid 150 bucks for a dvr, then three months later I bought a new tv with HD capability and of course wanted to upgrade to a HD DVR, guess what that’s gonna cost me? Wrong! They wanted $272 plus activation and installation and then said to keep the other one. Well, you can imagine what came out of my mouth at that point. The cancellation costs were around $400, so I says I could give a rip about $400 and that it was worth it to move away from these jackasses, So they put a cancellation on my account as per me for the end of the month (Feb) Then as expected and kind of planned on they called and pretty much said what will it take to for me to stay. All I wanted is a HD DVR in place of my three month dvr or the amount applied to the new HD from the one that I just bought, leased or what ever. I told them their customer retention policy needed a lot of help. So they gave me my HD DVR at a price that I was ok with, so I stayed. But and there's always a big butt with these aholes, when the install guy hadn’t shown up here after 2 weeks of when they said he was going to, I thought I’d just call and check in. That’s when all the feelings I had arguing with them (7 different people) a month ago came back, I had agreed to pay, $99 for the HD box with a $50 dollar credit applied to my next months bill and they could keep the other DVR. Well when I called to check in they said the credit was applied but they couldn’t understand why the appointment was never made for the install, I said no big deal lets set a new one. I was told that the new install was set for next Thursday and that there would be a $50 charge for a “new customer” change and an Installation/activation fee of, hum? I don’t think I heard how much because I was screaming at them by that time. So long story short, my cancellation is back in affect, Hello Dish Network. And friendly words of warning or advice if you will, if you want Sat. TV, call Dish TV, I switched from them after 8 years and have regretted it since June of last year, it’s all about the money grab with direct so beware.

I sold my home and moved aboard my sailboat in March of 2009 to go cruising for a year. Direct TV was notiied that I wished to cancel my service. The account represenative stated that it would be better to place the account in suspense and reactivate the account when I returned. I did this leaving a 170.00 credit on my Direct TV account. In Febuary our mail caught up to us with a bill from Direct TV for 218.00. I contacted Direct TV and after being on the phone for over an hour was informed that there was nothing they could do and the account had been turned over to collections. We live aboard our boat full time wih no land based residence and the boat was docked in Mobile, AL durring the period in question. I can provide written documentation from the technicians that service the boat, that there has never been any DirectTV equipment on the boat nor have I used the DirectTV service. Not only did they steal my 170.00 credit balance but are turning me over to collections for the 218.00. As posted all over the internet these people are crooks, DirectTV misrepresents billing issues regularly to gain revenue. I have no intention whatsoever of paying the $218 and plan to legally pursue them through every means available.

When we installed Direct TV the "Professional" installation included an idiot who fixed the satelite at the bottom of our roof. Now we have just had 20 inches of snow and have no receiption. So no superbowl tonight. Direct TV needs to go rot in hell.

When we installed Direct TV the “Professional” installation included an idiot who fixed the satelite at the bottom of our roof. Now we have just had 20 inches of snow and have no receiption. So no superbowl tonight. The customer support lady informed us that this is something we needed to have considered when orderding satelite service.

The short of this is avoid DirecTV. I read the customer reviews, I saw the complaints, I thought I was different, the painful stories you read will probably happen to you. Less than a day of service cost me almost $500 and 4 months of headache in order to get most of my money back.

After receiving many sign up letters from DTV they finally got me with 2 DVRs installed free and 12 months of the Choice plan for $29.99. I called to sign up but was told that wasn't a valid offer. I told the rep I have the letter in my hand. That should have been the first sign not to deal this company, but I was tired of my cable rate and wanted to save money. After "checking with a manager", I was told the offer would be honored. The installation went great, but after I logged into the customer service website the charges weren't what I was promised. I was signed up for the Choice Xtra plan(+$5) and charged $99 for the second DVR receiver. I immediately called DTV and the issue was corrected after a lengthy conversation. Hey, not bad service right? Not even an hour later it started raining and the signal went out.

I called to cancel the next day and was told that since I canceled within 24 hours there would be no cancellation fee. But there was $450 and the first month owed charged to my credit card. (I called to dispute the charge with my CC company, but it apparently doesn't work that way.) I was given constant runaround on multiple calls to DTV. From it takes 3 days for the credit to post you your account, to a manager has to approve your case, and it takes 6 to 8 weeks. After 8 weeks, I called yet again and was surprised to hear NOTHING had been done with my account and I had to wait another 6 weeks. Asking for a manager was pointless as I was speaking to reps in a certain South Asian country and they didn't seem in any way concerned with my request. Over the next 6 weeks I made weekly calls to check the progress and every time I am told the credit is in processing. So you can imagine my anger when after 6 weeks when again, NOTHING had been done. Another "we'll get processed for you" but this time I finally got the cancellation fee back a week later. They kept the monthly payment, but at that point I was done fighting. I have never dealt with a worst company.

Direct TV misleads their customers. I am fed up!!!! We signed up for the 29.99 a month deal. Our first bill was over $65. What a rip off! I signed up for the rebate, but I was told it would take effect immediately. It didn't.

File a complaint with your Attorney General and sue them in Small Claims court for these illegal termination fees they charged you. Forget the BBB, Direct TV already has an F rating with them. BTW the law firm Sprenger in Chicago and DC has a class action pending with them also. What they are doing IS illegal to you and countless others. Good Luck!

Direct TV really sucks. They lie, a lot! I had purchased the NFL ticket only to find out it didn't come in HD even after I'm paying an additional $10 month for HD service. To get it in HD you have to give them an additional $100 for "super fan". After that about 1/2 the games are blacked out and if they're not available on local channels you just don't get to watch them, period. They've got your money and you've got sh*t. Talking to the jerks at customer service is like talking to the hand. They continually pass you around from one jerk to the next. Where to they get these people, the zoo? I will NEVER do business with this outfit again and it's just too bad other people are not required to read a page like this BEFORE they order from these crooks.

Directv charged me for the NBA League Pass this years (around $160.00 or more) when I didn’t request it. I called customer service to ask why this was on my bill and was told that it was automatically added because I purchased the package last year. I was told that they send out letters to previous purchasers who have to respond and decline or you get the charge. They would not let me cancel because the basketball season had already started. I explained that I was unable to use the package because they don’t broadcast my local team on directv in my viewing area. Their policy is still that they will not remove this from my bill. I was wondering if anyone else is having or has had this problem and if there is anything that I can do. My contract doesn’t end until 2011 so leaving them right now is not an option. Is this something that could be a class action suit?

I just got off the phone with Scott who said he was the spoksperson for the President of Direct TV. Thinking I would get some satisfaction regarding being given a "GIFT" of 3 months free service of a channel that Direct TV took away from my 2 1/2 months before.
What a NUMBNUTS... They offered to discount down so I could get Sports Pack for $3.00 monthly which I declined and then offered a $75.00 credit on my next bill which I also declined. I told him I wanted Direct TV to keep their end of the agreement we made 11+ years ago just like I've paid my bill every month since we made the agreement. He said there was nothing else he could do for me and had enough nerve to ask me if there was anything else he could do for me. I DON'T THINK SO!
I found the new CEO's name and the Gals name that sent me my "GIFT and emailed them both.
Emails to the bosses at Direct TV is their name with a . between first and last @directv.com
Let them know how you feel....
