Merry Christmas John! :)

I think I new pretty much from the get-go that this wasn't real. We're not quite there yet. Though Sony's QRIO seems like quite a leap forward.

I've never read I, Robot the series, but it seems like it might have some similarities to Spielberg's "AI"?

I'd say Asimov's "I robot" is well above AI. The very first page of the book introduces the three laws of roboics which play the book's creed from there on...

What's so good about I Robot is the approach on robotics... Asimov doesn't bother to tell how or why they work, except by a few certain mentions of some important parts' tasks... But the main idea is how the laws enter in conflict with the world surrounding the robots.. The tasks they've been given and how some times the three laws aren't quite enough to keep men safe. And obviously a very important part is the psychology of the robots themselves, how they reach conclusions and come up with theories about their own existance or their relationship with mankind.

The very last chapters feature a thrilling story on the incursion of robots in society, undercover of course, and how they take control not only not disobeying the 3 laws, but seeking their fulfilling.

I robot isn't a series itself, but a very shocking episode of what awaits mankind on the path of deciding how far to go into robotics, especifically artificial intelligence.

However, other of Asimov's books, the robots of dawn is a very complete series that will, just as I robot, keep you on the very edge of your seat.

Asimov wrote several other stories about robots, about the Sci-Fi genre and about the craft of writing Sci-Fi itself. Always, proving very advanced to his era and foreseeing quite successully how much there is to robotics and ai that many even today don't even think about.

Sorry, made a mistake, the robots of dawn is another book of the "robot series" but neither it nor I Robot, are series themselves.

When i saw the commercial in a theater for the NS-5, i had an idea that it might have something to do with Asimov, especially after i saw "3 Laws Safe". So i went to the website and was completely confused. The website gives no hint that it is a movie. However after doing some more digging I found that it was actually going to be a movie. I am very excited about this because i have read almost all of Asimov's books on robots and they were possibly the best books i Have ever read. The way he explores the 3 Laws that "keep the robots from harming the humans" is amazing. I can't wait for this movie.

when i saw this i was in complete awe. i have never read his books, so i wascompletely convinced that the NS-5 was real. i told friends, family, and then decided to search up on it more. i searched for NS-5 And IRobot and found the Fox site withthe title irobot. i then searched more and found articles connecting these 2 things. i then wondered (i have seen the comemrcial in theatres) why i havnt seen one commercial adverting the movie but rather just "Introducing the ns-5, what will you do with yours", sounding and looking exactly like it could be real or a movie advert.smart fox fellows keepin their name away from the screen.

Wow...fooled me......My jaw hit the floor when I saw the website...well done fox people...well done.....although I don't think that something similar to the NS-5 is far off. Maybe this the governments way of easing us into the idea of A.I. being apart of our daily lives...do you really think they would just throw something of that magnitude at the public....I don't think so...But I guess these days anything is possible.

Hmmm.... When i looked at the site i could have sworn it mentioned something about the movie. But it said that the movie would release the same day that the Robot would. That way they could market Both. I dont seem how they could go and mess with people like that. Well when it comes to July 16 I'll see for myself if it is a Fake. So if it is i will be more than mad. I was planning on getting one. And one last thing, Why is it you can design your own and register for information on the NS-5? Well i guess we'll have to find out. If anyone wants to talk to me about it e-mail me.

I just stumbled on the site myself, but I did realize rather quickly that it was fake because when they mentioned the 3 laws, they gave credit to the Dr. that designed them . . Not Issac as had expected. this is the best promo for a movie every !! and a hell of a good read . . now they just need to transform the Foundation Series (yes all 9+ books) into a movie series (which would more then likely take 12+ movies to tell correctly) now everyone who is getting mad at fox for this . . it is far from false advertisement, because the NS-5 will be made avalible . . . on the screen . . ha ha, creative thinking on Foxs part. Great to see there are still innovators in marketing. (but sad to see there is very little innovation in movie plots . . all good films now seem to be made from books) . . . AI will be forgotten in the wake of this movie and story . .which I think I'll read again

The web site does exactly what it was intended to do - provoke people into thinking about the ethics, problems, and laws that need to be discussed, and are brought forward in tne book and the movie. If the viewer can be convinced that this add IS real, then how far off are we from it BEING real? We better start thinking and creating laws TODAY, so we are not caught off guard like we were with cloning. The web site was VERY thought-provoking and controversial, just as Asimov had intended his book to be. An absolutely excellent web site, I am showing it to all of my computer engineering students, before they find out the web site's true purpose, and it is invoking considerable discussion about the problems and concerns regarding the introduction of robotics. Since they did not know the intent of the site, and genuinely believed that the robot was real, the discussions were VERY intense and heart-felt. Maybe, through sites like this, and movies like the Matrix (especially Animatrix)and I, Robot, we will be prepared. Compared to AI, Millenium Man, and the Terminator movies, I, Robot is MUCH closer to reality, and hits home a lot harder. The reality of it can not be dismissed. The gut feelings that the web site is producing in people are real - people are feeling true emotions, not fake, artificially manipulated feelings of typical "Hollywood" movies.

Just a GREAT web site.

If the viewer can be convinced that this add IS real, then how far off are we from it BEING real? We better start thinking and creating laws TODAY, so we are not caught off guard like we were with cloning.
I'll have to reread I, Robot, but I think that Dr. Lanning and all those guys were characters in the book.

I was thinking two things, if this is a movie, they're going through a lot to convince people that this is an awesome movie. Or that these 3 doctors were begining the rise of the machines. And if they were to sell this robot to the public, with it being able to do all the things they said it would be able to do, the price of such a machine would have to be very expensive.

i believed it! Isaac Asimov is my favorite author and naturally i've read all his sci-fi novels and short stories, so when i saw this advertisement i was interested but skeptical. I visited the website and was completely sucked in...and started spreading the news about our new NS-5. But a highly rational friend was even more skeptical and we proceded to stumble upon this website which had made me look like a complete ass, but had provided us with a few moments of stomach aching laughter...damnit fox!

I just hope Fox does Asimov justice. I totally agree that he was way ahead of his time (and even our time) when it came to writing robots. If this turns out to be one of these movies where we're supposed to be amazed that the robot seems so human (AI made me sick) then I'm gonna--I'll just--well, I guess I wouldn't really be able to do anything. But I'd be hopping mad, let me tell you. ooh!
