If you're going to the Caribbean, you need to know the latest news on Passports and travel to US Territories

No passport is needed for Puerto Rico (self-governing U.S. commonwealth) or the U.S. Virgin Islands (U.S. Territory). For the rest of the Caribbean (and the world), you'll need a passport if traveling by air or sea.

If you're traveling abroad soon and need a passport, you can check the box for an expedited passport application. With the current backlog brought on by new regulations, this may be a good idea.

You can check the status of your passport's processing online; it may be on its way.

The U.S. Department of State provides a very informative Web site for details on how to obtain your first passport.
