Whats sad is that Kmart pulled most of its stores in Texas if not all of them....My family and I really enjoyed shopping at Kmart. And i agree with another person who said " i would shop at Kmart before Walmart". I hate Walmart. They came to our city and destroyed Kmart. I would rather pay $1 dollar more than support that crook from Arkansas Sam Walton and his crony family. I remember you could get a slurpee or popcorn or pizza up front and push your buggy around and shop for everything! Toys, Clothes, you name it! and by the way the clothes were better quality than Walmarts sucky chinese crap. My wife would buy the Jacylyn Smith outfits all the time...We saved alot of money at Kmart!, and my wife and i still miss them very very much...Why do all good things come to an end?? I really dont like SuperTarget either and their clothes are cheap and made in China also.. Luckily we bought alot of stuff from Kmart right before they closed! I have blue jean shorts that i still wear to this day from Kmart that havent torn apart! I have Winter Jackets that havent faded and torn up either we purchased at Kmart. AND we even have a Christmas Tree that was onsale for a fraction of the cost that walmart sells it chinese crap! Lastly, before Martha Stewart got busted ( hehehe) we even have alot of her products from Kmart! garden collection, you name it! If any Kmart Exec reads this PLEASE BRING BACK OUR WONDERFUL KMART TO DALLAS FT WORTH! PLEASSSSEEEE

God Bless All!

I hope that you would stop showing your advertisement (in Australia)where you have your red K-Mart monster mascot surfing. My 19-month old toddler who watches commercials with great interest and obvious enjoyment now SCREAMS IN FRIGHT and runs to me absolutely terrified when that particular ad appears. I wish you would consider all of your viewers. Eg, it's like the litle monsters that appear around the rim of the toilet seat of that toilet cleaning product that was advertised a while back. A lot of toilet trainers did not want to seat on the toilet because of it.

Regards

I love the new campaign K-Mart has with the Blue Lightbulb. Pretty cool idea, brings me back to when I was a kid. I especially like the one where the lady is talking to the Lightbulb about a TV. I would shop at K-Mart long before Wal-Mart.

the same way Red Lobster used to advertise on telly in St Louis -- when the closest one i could locate was in chicago. another humerous imponderable.

RL finally put up a restaurant in the St Louis area. maybe the adverts were a marketing ploy. like, "want this channel? call your cable operator!"

Yeah, we have one K-Mart in Lubbock and they still advertise like there are 20 of them. In Sugar Land we have no K-Marts but you still see the commercials. And everyone wonders why they were having financial troubles ;-)

Network television ads can sometimes prepare a market as well. Up here in canada we would get the same mass market advertising for walmart and then when one did open they were swamped. (That actually seems pretty pathetic). It can also be a negative. Sometimes the 'national' advertising campaigns for the u.s. and canada differ significantly. For example PizzaHut may have introduced yet another variation on its stuffed crust but when you go to a PizzaHut restaurant you find out 'sorry, that's in America'. I'm always amazed how american companies don't realize that they can increase the effectiveness of their advertising by almost 10% by actually having the product available in canada since they are advertising here in the first place.

When I heard the Raveonette's "That Great Love Sound" on my television I wheeled around to see why. I was pleased that someone had the sense to license that catchy tune, probably my favorite song from 2003. I was amazed that it was for K-Mart clothing.

While I agree K-Mart's ad buying may leave a lot to be desired, I have to admire their marketing strategy. Somone has finally realized they can't compete with Wal-Mart on price so they better find another way to differentiate themselves.
